We understand how stressful the FtP process is and one thing is for sure it is likely to go on for quite a while.
Therefore we always recommend you access some counselling so that you can have a robust support system to help you cope. You may at the moment feel like you don’t need it but the effects of this process can be insipid and sometimes they can creep up on you without you realising.
Think about these things:
- Do you have trouble sleeping?
- Are you more irritable than usual?
- Do you find yourself overthinking things?
- Do you constantly worry that people are judging you?
- Are you angry?
- Are you tearful a lot of the day?
- Do you feel isolated and unable to talk to people about the FtP process?
Even if none of these things affect you – you may be experiencing other effects so it is worth exploring with someone qualified who can help you look at whether you need some additional support.
Speak to your GP if you can – they will know local resources that may be useful.
